ANDREA COLLIAR COUNSELLING
About me
It can be challenging to find a counsellor, so welcome, I appreciate you taking the time to see if we're a good fit. In my work, I am led by evidence-based knowledge and skills, more about this below. A bit about myself, I am a new mom, an avid walker, and have been with my partner for over a decade. I've worked in the mental health field for a decade, and now, as a counsellor I feel honoured to support individuals on their journey to healing.
I believe that the process of healing and self-discovery often take place in therapeutic relationships. A client-counsellor relationship where you feel empowered and at ease to explore your internal world and your relationships with others. The challenges we all face as humans share commonalities, at the same time, our experiences, needs, and emotions are all so different, so I provide a tailor-made approach to each person that I work with.
My approach
My general approach to therapy is informed by foundational psychotherapy theories such as person-centred theory, attachment theory, and modalities like relational cultural therapy, emotion focused therapy, accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, polyvagal theory, and mindfulness. Meaning that I prioritize creating with you, a relationship based on empathy, genuineness, safety, and trust. Parts of which may look, feel, and sound differently to each person.
